API-calling Agent

Also known asAPI 에이전트API-first Agent

In one line

An API-calling agent is an agent that gets work done by hitting predefined APIs directly, working with data and capabilities instead of screens.

Going deeper

An API-calling agent is the counterpart to a browser-use agent. Instead of clicking through UI, it hits APIs for catalog, payment, inventory and similar — straight data in, straight data out. It is the interface UCP, MCP and similar standards assume by default.

The marketer's takeaway is that the cleaner your APIs are, the cleaner your agent exposure becomes. Letting bots fight through a human-first UI is harder than just shipping a bot-first API alongside it, and usually worse for both citation and conversion.

In practice both patterns coexist. Browser-use covers everything that has no API, API calls handle everything that does. The natural design for GEO and agentic commerce ends up being three layers — human UI, bot-friendly API, and clean underlying data.
