Crawl Depth

Also known as클릭 깊이Click Depth

In one line

Crawl depth is how many clicks it takes to reach a page from the homepage — the deeper a URL sits, the lower its crawl priority and perceived importance tend to be.

Going deeper

Crawl depth is usually counted with the homepage at zero — how many clicks does it take to reach a given page? Search engines treat shallower pages as more important, so a revenue page sitting six clicks deep is silently penalised.

The practical workflow is to crawl the site with something like Screaming Frog or Sitebulb, visualise the depth distribution, then reshape internal links and category structure to pull priority pages within three clicks. A tweak to the main nav, the footer or a related-content module is often enough to drop depth by a level or two.

The same logic carries over to AI search. AI crawlers also use the link graph to weigh importance, and good content buried deep simply never makes it into the citation pool.
