LangGraph
In one line
LangGraph is the graph-based agent workflow framework from the LangChain team — built so that branches, loops and human-in-the-loop steps are first-class.
Going deeper
LangGraph is the framework the LangChain team broke out specifically for agent workflows. Its differentiator is that flows are expressed as a graph of nodes and edges, not as a linear chain — branches, loops, retries and human-in-the-loop steps are first-class instead of bolted on.
Teams typically reach for it when the workflow is not a single line. 'Review a document, if a condition is met ask a human, otherwise process automatically, branch again on failure' is the kind of non-linear flow the graph model expresses naturally.
Recent releases have invested heavily in persistent state, checkpointing and debugging tooling (via LangSmith). The product has been shifting noticeably from 'good for demos' toward 'designed for production agent systems'.
