Organic Search
In one line
Organic search is the unpaid portion of a search results page — the listings that don't carry an 'Ad' label, and the surface SEO and GEO actually compete on.
Going deeper
Organic search refers to the entire non-ad surface of a results page. It is more than ten blue links — featured snippets, People Also Ask, image and video packs and AI Overviews all live inside the organic real estate.
Marketers often use 'organic search' and 'organic traffic' interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. Organic search is the surface; organic traffic is the visits you actually pull off that surface.
What's changed with GEO is how much answering happens inside organic search itself. The old assumption — impressions translate to clicks — no longer holds, because more queries now end inside the result page without a click.
