PageSpeed Insights
In one line
PageSpeed Insights (PSI) is Google's free tool that scores a page's performance on mobile and desktop, using Core Web Vitals and offering concrete optimization tips.
Going deeper
PageSpeed Insights surfaces Core Web Vitals — LCP, INP and CLS — using both real-world CrUX field data and simulated Lighthouse runs. For real user experience, the Field Data section is what you trust first.
What actually matters is user experience, not the score. Pulling LCP from over four seconds down to under 2.5 moves revenue. Pushing a 90 to a 95 usually does not.
Google does use page speed as a ranking signal, but its weight is smaller than content quality. A fast page will not rescue weak content, so prioritise accordingly.
