Parasite SEO

Also known as기생 SEOParasite Hosting

In one line

Parasite SEO is the tactic of publishing content on high-authority third-party platforms — Medium, LinkedIn, Reddit — to ride their domain authority into the top results instead of building your own.

Going deeper

Parasite SEO starts from the idea that building your own domain authority is slow, so why not publish on a host that already has it? Medium articles, LinkedIn posts, Reddit threads and sponsored content on major news sites are the classic surfaces, and they often outrank a young site quickly.

Google has explicitly framed the abusive end of this as 'site reputation abuse' and started enforcing against it — particularly content that has nothing to do with the host yet borrows the host's trust to rank. Some publisher 'coupon sections' have already been demoted en masse under this policy.

Honestly speaking, the tactic does work in the short term, but it carries clear policy risk. The reasonable balance is to keep investing in your own domain's authority and use parasite SEO sparingly through a small number of well-chosen channels rather than as the main strategy.
