URL Slug

Also known as슬러그permalink slug

In one line

A URL slug is the trailing path segment of a page URL — a short, lowercase identifier that signals what the page is about both to readers and to search engines.

Going deeper

A slug is the trailing piece of a URL — the 'blog-seo' in 'example.com/blog/blog-seo'. The settled best practice is short, lowercase, hyphenated, and largely permanent once published.

A common decision is whether to use Korean slugs or English ones. Korean slugs are indexable, but they trip up sharing, logs and downstream systems through URL encoding, which is why English slugs are usually the easier choice in practice.

Be careful changing slugs after the fact. Every external link to the old URL breaks unless you ship a 301 redirect at the same time, and forgetting that step is one of the most common ways teams lose hard-won authority.
