Google Business Profile
In one line
Google Business Profile (GBP) is Google's free business listing tool that powers your card on Search and Maps and lets you manage reviews and inquiries.
Going deeper
Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is now managed directly inside Search and Maps. Filling out name, address, phone, hours, photos and services puts your card on local results and on the map.
Reviews are the single biggest performance lever. Average star rating is only part of it — review volume, freshness and whether you respond all carry weight. Treat reviews as a communication channel, not just a number to manage.
GBP is increasingly important for GEO too. When AI engines recommend 'shops nearby' or specific categories, they often pull from structured business profile data, so accurate category and service fields are themselves a high-leverage GEO move.
