Keyword Clustering

In one line

Keyword clustering is the practice of grouping keywords with the same intent so they map onto a single page or topic cluster — used to prevent cannibalization and to build topical authority.

Going deeper

If you build content straight from a flat keyword list, you end up with five near-identical pages competing with each other. Clustering pre-empts that by grouping same-intent keywords onto a single page.

A common method is SERP similarity clustering: if two keywords share enough of their top-10 results, they belong on the same page; if they barely overlap, they get separate pages. Most automated cluster tools wrap that logic.

Clustering also feeds topical authority for GEO. LLMs pick up on how deeply and consistently a domain covers a topic, so a well-built cluster raises the odds of being chosen as a citation source.
